Upside Down Cake is Mom's special dessert, which she served in the episode "Hunger Strikes". It is a Pineapple Upside Down Cake with pink frosting and a jiggly gelatin-like texture. The dessert is so important to him that Dexter was willing to blast himself with gamma radiation in order to endure eating his vegetables so he could have his dessert. Ironically, altering his taste buds made him lose interest in the cake.
