Valhallen's Room, the second episode of The Justice Friends, is the second segment of the eighth episode in season one of Dexter's Laboratory. It first aired on November 27, 1996.

In this episode, Valhallen loses his ax, causing him to lose his superpowers and turn into a nerd. Major Glory and Krunk venture into his room to retrieve it.

Plot[]

One morning at Muscular Arms, Major Glory calls Valhallen and Krunk to the kitchen for breakfast. Krunk arrives eager to eat breakfast, but Major Glory notices that he is 2.8917 seconds late and dramatically declares he will never make breakfast again when Valhallen doesn't arrive in the kitchen. Suddenly, Major Glory and Krunk hear Valhallen's voice and head to his room door. When Krunk opens the door, he and Major Glory enter to find Valhallen laying on top of his bed feeling powerless as he had lost his ax, his divine source of power.

Major Glory asks where Valhallen's axe is, but he can't remember at first. Valhallen then recalls that he and his pet goat Billy were charioting to Asgard where he performed in a rock and roll concert, then both Valhallen and Billy were visited by Valkyries that fed them golden apples. Major Glory and Krunk then scramble about the room looking for Valhallen's ax. Krunk finds and tears through things while Major Glory uses his laser vision to eliminate any trash he finds, cleaning up the place in the process. While doing so, Valhallen starts to lose power and is reduced to a mortal human.

Meanwhile, Major Glory and Krunk are still looking for the axe. They notice a long-sleeve shirt floating into Valhallen's closet. Krunk chases after it and is promptly pulled into the closet by two pairs of stretch pants. As Krunk emerges possessed by the clothes, Major Glory prepares to save him, only for Billy to intervene and eat the clothes that were possessing Krunk. As thanks, Krunk rubs Billy's back, but hears the sound of a guitar playing. He squeezes Billy open and tries to reach and pull the ax out, but Major Glory passes Billy to Valhallen. Feeling the ax's divine power, Valhallen's god powers are restored.

At breakfast, Valhallen shares his thanks to Major Glory and Krunk for finding his ax, then uses it to eat the stack of pancakes on his plate. As Krunk gets ready to eat his pancakes, Billy eats every single one, angering Krunk, who declares he "should have goat's milk for breakfast".

Cultural references[]

  • Valhallen has a goat named William. While the name itself is a pun on the term "billy goat", William himself references Tangrisnir and Tanngnjostr, two goats who pulled Thor's chariot in Norse mythology.
  • While William goes to save Krunk, Major Glory yells out "Billy, don't be a hero!", referencing the 1974 song of the same name by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods.
  • When Valhallen raises his magic ax, he yells "I have the power!", referencing Prince Adam from the 1983 animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, where he yells the same thing upon raising his sword.
