The cartoon begins as Dexter and Dee Dee are standing on a sidewalk waiting for their bus, Dexter tells Dee Dee about his upcoming test. After that, the bus approaches and the two get on. As Dee Dee walks to the back to the bus, Dexter walks up to Douglas, who apparently seems to be moving his arm up and down while constantly saying; "Force field."; he tells Dexter that he saved a spot for him. Dexter jumps on and asks Douglas if he's ready for the test. Douglas says yes and shows Dexter his suitcase with his name carved and a symbol on it. He opens the case and reveals a small number 2 pencil. Dexter is stunned that Douglas's pencil survived a lot of tests. Dexter and Douglas laugh until a paper airplane lands in Dexter's hair, he turns around and something gooey lands on his glasses. He finds out that it was Becky who shot the gooey stuff using a straw. Dexter gets mad, then Becky took Dexter's backpack and told everyone on the bus he have a purseand Dexter told her it's not because it's a manly backpack and told her to look at the badge, but Becky just keep it any how Dexter said that she can go ahead and keep it because he don't really need it for the test the Gwen ask Becky that do she have the test today too and Becky said she believed she do then Gwen sneak up behind Dexter and took his pencil and start to harass him until Gwen throws his pencil to the back of the bus. Dexter goes to the back and Dee Dee stops him, Dexter tells her that he ain't afraid of the dark and no scary monster, soon two kids and Mordecai tell lies about Billy. Dexter said that the lies they're telling aren't true until a shadow hand comes out from the back of the bus. Gwen calls Dexter a "pipsqueak", Dexter says; "I'm going in!"; the girls watch Dexter walk into the darkness, when he disappears, the girls stare at each other, thinking if he's going to make it. At the back of the bus, Dexter finds that its covered in gum all over, a gum monster scares Dexter and the monster gives him back his flashlight. Dexter discovers Billy sitting on the seat covered in gum, he tells the real story of how he got stuck there. Dexter cuts him free using his laser pen, at the front, Dexter comes from out of the darkness with Billy behind him. He introduces him to the busmates; and Becky and Gwen; he chews gum off his shirt, spits it to the ceiling, and picks up Becky and Gwen and their hairs get stuck on the gum, Dexter thanks Billy and realizes about his number 2 pencil. Billy thought it was a licorice stick, a boy says; "Licorice, mmmm!"; the episode ends with all students laughing except Becky and Glen who apparently are trying to get down.
