  • (On a sunny afternoon, a silhouette of a hawk is flying in the sky; the camera then pulls back to view a turtle munching on a leaf of a small plant then pulls it off; near the coastline, a mother turtle is seen watching her hatchlings; she is caught off guard by the hawk's screech and pushes her hatchling with her head; she looks up and sees the hawk diving at her and the hatchlings, talons prepared; the mother turtle hides inside her shell just as the hawk flies over her, leaving a gust of wind that spins her shell; the hawk goes for the turtle eating a leaf and carries it off, leaving the mother turtle to watch in dismay as the hawk carries away her hatchling)
  • (As the hawk flies, it loses its grip on the turtle's shell; the turtle then plummets down to the ground with the hawk giving chase; cut to the turtle; it hides inside its shell and enters a tree, then slides down a hammock and rake stick; it pops out of its shell and both the turtle and hawk exchange glances, the latter diving for the former; in fear, the turtle sees the nearby bushes and slowly goes to hide in them as the hawk dives toward it at full velocity)
  • (While the hawk nears the turtle, it again hides inside its shell; Dee Dee, holding a pair of binoculars, pops out of the bushes; the hawk, now frightened, flies off)
  • Dee Dee: Peekaboo! I see you! (she takes out a notepad) Boy, bird watching is a lot of fun!
  • (Cut to Dee Dee's point of view; it shows a smudged picture of the Great Northern Hawk)
  • Dee Dee: But whoever wrote this bird guide should get their eyes examined.
  • (She moves the guide out of her sight and sees the turtle shell on the ground, mistaking it for the hawk's egg)
  • Dee Dee: Oh no! The mommy bird dropped its egg! And it's about to hatch!
  • (She looks inside the turtle shell upside down)
  • Dee Dee: Hello, baby birdy. Come on out. It's time to be born!
  • (The turtle slowly comes out of its shell)
  • Dee Dee: Come on. Don't be afraid. No one's going to harm you.
  • (She picks the turtle up; the turtle, now exhausted, shakes its legs and arms)
  • Dee Dee: Hmm... You're not really all the way hatched. (She shakes the turtle) Maybe you need to be sat on longer.
  • (She wraps her hair around the turtle)
  • Dee Dee: Well, my hair is warmer than my bottom.
  • (She goes inside the house and closes the screen door; in Dexter's lab, he comes out of his laboratory writing on a clipboard and falls through a chute; Dee Dee is going up the stairs as Dexter slides through some pipes; upstairs, Dee Dee walks toward her room just as Dexter slides down from the grandfather clock; the siblings into each other and, in slow motion, Dee Dee hits her bottom jaw on the floor three times; the turtle flies out of her hair and flies toward the grandfather clock as it retreats into its shell; Dee Dee reaches in desperation as the turtle hits the grandfather clock's face)
  • (Fade to an operation room; Dexter, donning a surgeon's outfit, is operating with three robot assistants)
  • (While Dexter is operating, transparencies of his and Dee Dee's heads fly by, along with a transparent broken clock)
  • Dee Dee: Dexter, look at what you've done!
  • Dexter: But I... uh... I... I...
  • Dee Dee: You ruined Mom's clock!
  • Dexter: [upon appearing to the right of himself] The clock? What about the baby turtle?
  • Dee Dee: [upon appearing to the left of Dexter] Birdy? He's okay. His shell is cracking because he's hatching.
  • Dexter: Dee Dee, he is not a... Look, I don't have time to explain. "Birdy" needs our help. (Dee Dee's head disappears just as Dexter's head overlaps his physical appearance) I have the technology. I can rebuild him. (To his assistants) Bionic eye.
  • (The second robot assistant races over to the Barrel of Bionics and pulls out an eye; on a computer screen; the bionic eye is added to the turtle's eye)
  • Dexter: Positronic turtleneck.
  • (The first robot assistant races offscreen then comes back with a turtleneck coat on a hanger; on the computer screen, the positronic turtle neck aligns with the turtle's body)
  • Dexter: Robotic arm.
  • (He recoils; the first robot assistant is seen pulling an arm off the second robot assistant, to which it hands the arm to Dexter; fade to black)
  • (Outside the operating room, Dee Dee paces back and forth awaiting the turtle's operation; Dexter opens the double doors; the third robot assistant pushes the turtle, who is seen on the stretcher, out of the operating room)
  • (Happy to see the turtle again, Dee Dee runs over to it and gives it a hug, with the turtle giving her a bear hug that causes Dee Dee to choke; Dexter pushes them apart, wags his index fingers at both of them, and shows the inside of the turtle's body)
  • (Inside Dexter's laboratory, the turtle is seen lifting weights with its mouth; just after, Dexter fires a heat laser at the turtle's shell, with a picture of a thermometer nearby that increases in heat; later, the turtle is running on a conveyor belt, with a miles per hour meter over to the top left)
  • Dexter: You realize for a turtle, that's very fast.
  • Dee Dee: He's not a turtle, he's a birdy!
  • (Before Dexter says anything, he and Dee Dee are taken aback as the turtle, in bipedal form, runs at increasing speeds)
  • (Later, the turtle is seen pushing one of Dexter's inventions with its head)
  • Dexter: Little farther.
  • (The turtle stops to regain its breath)
  • Dexter: Back to the left.
  • (The turtle latches itself onto one of the levers and pulls the invention to the left)
  • Dexter: Actually, I think it was better to the right.
  • Dee Dee: (offscreen) Dexter!
  • (Cut to Dee Dee at the door; her arms folded)
  • Dee Dee: I knew I shouldn't have left "Birdy" with you, using him like some bionic birdy slave instead of helping him hatch from his egg!
  • (She grabs the turtle and leaves the lab)
  • Dexter: He is not a...
  • (He is cut off as the lab doors shut; Dexter then looks back at the invention)
  • Dexter: I really think it would look better over to the right.
  • (Cut to Dee Dee's room; she, Mee Mee, and Lee Lee all enter; cut to Dee Dee's "incubator", which consists of the turtle sitting inside a fishbowl with a desk lamp shining on it)
  • Dee Dee: So then, I just brought him back to my room and built him his incubator. (She pushes the lamp off to the side and takes the turtle out of the fishbowl) Well, is it today? Is today the day you hatch?
  • (Cut to Mee Mee and Lee Lee, both of whom are staring blankly at Dee Dee)
  • Lee Lee: Uh, Dee Dee? That's not a...
  • ('Mee Mee gently pushes Lee Lee's hand down as she shakes her head)
  • Mee Mee: Uh, Dee? It's getting close to lunchtime, so I think we'll...
  • Dee Dee: Birdy will fetch us something to eat. Fly downstairs, Birdy, fly!
  • (She throws the turtle over Mee Mee and Lee Lee's heads as it scurries its arms and legs about; when it lands on the ground, the turtle walks off to the right while giving Dee Dee an annoyed look)
  • Mee Mee: Dee, has your bro been experimenting on you again?
  • Dee Dee: What do you mean?!
  • (Mee Mee and Lee Lee mischeviously smile; in the kitchen, Mom is washing the dishes; the turtle pops its head out from behind the refrigerator, gets under it, and carries it off; Mom looks in shock)
  • Mom: Honey, the refrigerator's running!
  • (Cut to Dad in the bathroom; he is seen looking into the mirror while adjusting his tie)
  • Dad: And Prince Albert's in the can!
  • (A young man dressed like a prince pops out of the toilet; he looks on in shock as the turtle jumps upstairs with the refrigerator in tow; Dexter comes out of his room writing on his clipboard; he sees a shadow growing around him and goes back into his room; the turtle and the fridge land in front of Dexter's room door; Dexter cracks his door open and peeks out)
  • (In Dee Dee's room, the girls are feeding the turtle; Dexter opens the room door and barges in)
  • Dexter: Dee Dee! I knew you'd pull some bonehead move, using him like some bionic refrigerator delivery turtle!
  • (He grabs the turtle; it becomes a pulling match between Dexter and Dee Dee; as they fight, the turtle covers its ears)
  • Dee Dee: He's not a turtle, he's a birdy!
  • Dexter: He's a turtle!
  • Dee Dee: Birdy!
  • Dexter: Turtle!
  • Dee Dee: Birdy!
  • Dexter: Turtle!
  • Dee Dee: Birdy!
  • Dexter: Turtle!
  • (The turtle hears the hawk's cry, then looks through the wall with its bionic eye; a silhouette of the hawk flies downward; outside, the hawk eyes the mother turtle and her bale of hatchlings; the turtle immediately gets out of Dexter and Dee Dee's grasps and flies through the room wall, leaving a hole behind)
  • Dee Dee: Birdy, come back!
  • (Mee Mee and Lee Lee look out the hole; cut to the mother turtle; the hawk lands near them with the turtle landing behind the hawk)
  • (Before the hawk makes the first move; the turtle grabs the hawk's tuft of feathers with its mouth, releases it in slow motion, then proceeds to wallop it with its fist; the hawk flies off to the left with the turtle chasing it; it retreats inside his shell and hits the hawk's head while spinning; finally, the turtle then stomps the hawk's head, sending it hurtling downward to the ground; the hawk lands in front of Dee Dee with a nearby basket landing on top of it; Dee Dee, saddened about losing "Birdy", is seen sitting on her binoculars; she sees the hawk and becomes delighted)
  • Dee Dee: A baby turtle!
  • (Humiliated, the hawk lays on the grass in defeat and blinks its eye)
