Picture Day is the first part of the 19th episode of Season 2 in Dexter's Laboratory, the episode first aired on November 19, 1997. In this episode, Dexter tries to make his face more handsome for his Picture Day photo.
It's picture day at Huber Elementary and Dexter must face the truth: he's not that photogenic. Using Dee Dee's teen magazine, Dexter tries to make himself more handsome for his school photo.
When Dee Dee dresses Dexter up to look cool, he's wearing baggy jean shorts,a beanie and plaid shirt. This was a trendy retro hip hop fashion during the 1990s.
Dexter said that if you'd just be yourself, you'd be okay. Dee Dee refutes this by saying "...not if you wanna be popular." (implying that people portray themselves as "cool characters" in order to boost their charisma.)
This episode also hints that Dexter is possibly 9 years old and Dee Dee is 11 years old due to the fact he's in the 4th grade and she's in the 6th grade
Cultural References
This episode marks another appearance of "Eleventeen Magazine" (a parody reference to real life teen magazine: Seventeen Magazine, a magazine popular among teenagers especially during the 1990s.) The previous appearance was in the episode Tribe Called Girl, but with a woman on the front cover instead of a man.
