If Memory Serves is the first part of the fifth episode in season 3 of Dexter's Laboratory. In this episode, Dexter looks through a photo album and becomes inspired to copy his memories from inside his head, but chaos ensues.

The episode was produced in 2001 and premiered on Cartoon Network in the United States on February 22, 2002.

The Dexter family is looking through photos of their trip to Hawaii. Their reminiscing is cut short when Dexter and Dee Dee argue about what happened in the photo of Dexter falling into a hole. Dad and Mom explain about the things they lost and order both Dexter and Dee Dee to go finish their homework.

Inside Dexter's laboratory, Dexter is contemplating as Dee Dee prances around. He himself can't remember far back either, with Dee Dee showing him her "fanciful unicorn" dance and attempting to press a button. This quickly brings back bad memories for Dexter and he shoves Dee Dee out of his lab. He then re-enters and goes to work on an invention that preserves his memories.

After inventing it, Dexter gets comfortable in a chair as the invention starts backing up his memories onto a CD. Suddenly, Mandark crashes into Dexter's laboratory on a saucer ready to steal his memories. They both get into a slapping match that ends with both pairs of glasses being knocked away and them going to fight inanimate objects, with Mandark fighting a plant and Dexter fighting a lamp. They then go find their pairs of glasses, once they do so, Mandark then tricks Dexter into looking behind him and follows with a sucker punch. He then races to steal Dexter's memories and downloads them into his brain.

Mandark, however, does not take kindly to the memories, as they feature Dexter growing up. They soon become too much for him to bear and Mandark races out of Dexter's laboratory declaring his hatred for him and his lab. Dexter responds by calling Mandark a "baby."
