Go, Dexter Family! Go! is the second segment of the twelfth episode in season 3 of Dexter's Laboratory. It first aired on July 12, 2002.

In this episode, Dexter gets kidnapped by a race of highly intelligent aliens and his family must rescue him.

Plot[]

Dexter and his family are in the kitchen having beef loaf while Dexter opens up the discussion that his family isn't interested in. Angry at being ignored, Dexter thinks to himself about disappearing. He is suddenly abducted into space along with Mom, Dad, and Dee Dee. Inside a spaceship, the Dexter family is greeted by a race of aliens that hiss at them, with their leader picking up Dexter.

He then explains his plight to Dexter. Dexter refuses to help the alien leader and is dropped out of the leader's hand. Enraged, the leader sends a swarm of aliens to seize the Dexter family while Dexter himself is carried off by several miniature aliens to the fourth transference chamber.

To save Dexter, Dad, Mom and Dee Dee struggle to get themselves free from their restraints. Hearing Dexter's cry for help, Mom breaks free from her restraints by slipping her hands out of her gloves, putting them back on, then socking the alien guard in its mouth. Mom is then captured by another alien guard, prompting Dad to break free from his restraints to rescue his wife.

Dee Dee frees herself from her restraints, but she is pushed back toward the wall as a swarm of mini aliens fly toward her and clamp on. Mom takes a mop that one of the cleaner aliens was using and uses it to attack the mini aliens surrounding Dee Dee and the alien guard that captured Dad.

Dee Dee eyes three nearby motor scooters that she, Dad, and Mom all ride on. As they make their way to Dexter, several aliens chase them and they increase speed. They soon dismount the scooters and get sucked up two vacuum tubes that lead into a part of the laboratory with water. An alien sees the Dexter family and gives chase. While underwater, the alien captures Dee Dee, prompting Mom to free her daughter while Dad takes the oxygen mask off the alien's face, causing the alien to fill its body up with water and sink.

Meanwhile, the alien leader is reading over Dexter's personality results and orders his troops to get the technology out of him. He reluctantly lets the aliens take a break. As Dexter lays on the operation table, he explains his wish of being a normal kid, but is interrupted as Mom calls his name. Dexter quickly comes to his senses and is happy to see his family again. With Dexter in tow, Dad, Mom, and Dee Dee make a run for the exit as they are intercepted by the aliens and their leader. Their escape is cut short as they run into a wall of mini aliens while the alien leader closes in on them. Following a hug, Dexter reminds Dee Dee of a button on one of the machines, to which she readily presses it.

A hatch in the ceiling opens and the platform shoots the Dexter family upward. They land in a room that Dexter explains about, leaving the family dumbfounded. Before they could make their escape, the alien leader has caught up to them. Dexter introduces his family to the leader and they subsequently team up to take him down. Dexter perches on the nose, Dad punches the eye, Dee Dee tickles his chin, and Mom pulls out a string that undoes the leader's clothing. Embarrassed and close to sobbing, the alien leader retreats while his underlings look at him and laugh. After sharing a laugh, Dexter and his family go back home.

Mom still doesn't understand what the aliens wanted with Dexter in the first place, to which he sheepishly says; "You know how kooky those aliens can be."

Notes[]

  • This is another episode when Dexter isn't in his lab.

Episode Connections[]

Cultural References[]

  • This is a parody of superhero teams such as Power Rangers whose vehicles come together to form a giant robot used to fight a huge monster who is wreaking havoc. This includes the family members divided into different squares, and the theme song is a parody of Go Go Power Rangers.
  • The white suits with the red stripe on the side that Dexter and his family wears throughout the segment are the same ones Wonka and his guests wear in the Shrinking Room in the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
  • As soon as Dexter finishes mentioning a device capable of getting the family back home, a familiar sound from the game show "Jeopardy!" can be heard (the sound upon nobody "questioning the answer").
