Down in the Dumps is the third segment of the seventeenth episode in season 2 of Dexter's Laboratory. It first aired on November 5, 1997.
In this episode, Dee Dee annoys Dexter with Mr. Fuzzums, her stuffed teddy bear. Dexter, now irate, plays roughly with Mr. Fuzzums to the point where it lands in the trash, leaving Dee Dee catatonic and traumatized. They then go to the city dump to find Mr. Fuzzums.
Dee Dee having her hair chewed on by a Mr. Chewy Bitems references the infamous Cabbage Patch Snacktime Kids incident where children got their fingers or hair stuck in the dolls' mouths, prompting Mattel, the maker of the dolls, to withdraw them from sales.
As the episode ends, Dexter says "Da-da-da-dum", a motif famously associated with the first movement of Beethoven's fifth symphony.
Errors[]
When Dexter launches Mr. Fuzzums out of the lab through the chimney, the driveway is not seen, but when Dee Dee is seen going to get Mr. Fuzzums, it reappears.
