Dexter's Debt is the third segment of the eleventh episode in season one of Dexter's Laboratory. It first aired on December 18, 1996.

In this episode, Dexter receives a notice from NASA, who threatens to repossess his lab when they send him a bill for $200 million. He comes up with ways to make that much money. Incidentally, Dee Dee wins the exact amount of money from Publishers Sweeping House.

Plot[]

Dad is outside the family house getting the mail. He heads back in and gives Dexter and Dee Dee their mail. Dee Dee is selected by the Publisher's Reading House for a chance to win a sweepstakes prize while Dexter receives a $200 million bill from NASA, who then finds a way to gather enough cash to pay off his debt.

First, Dexter asks Dad to raise his allowance to get $1.5 million, but Dad misinterprets what Dexter is implying and instead gives him a nickel while giving Dee Dee a five-dollar bill because she's older than Dexter. In Dexter's laboratory, he creates an isotope then brings it out to a makeshift lemonade stand that he presents as "technologically nutrified lemonade" and sells it for $2 million dollars, but he doesn't get any customers. He then sees Dee Dee running her own lemonade stand with several customers surrounding it, leaving Dexter feeling annoyed.

Later, Mom tells Dexter that the phone is for him, and after he picks up the receiver, he gets a call from NASA saying that he has two days left to pay off his debt, but Dexter lies and says that he never got the bill until he corrects the collector that the notice says he has 10 days.

Dexter then comes up with a garage sale to sell most of his old inventions, with Dee Dee opening her garage sale booth across from Dexter's. Later after the garage sale, Dexter has only made a few dollars from selling his things, but Dee Dee walks by with a basket full of money and money bags, leaving Dexter annoyed once more. Later, Dexter is on the phone with a student from Harvard University offering to tutor him for $2,000 a page, only for the student to decline his offer and Dexter hanging up on them. After getting off the phone, Mom opens the door and Dick McMann from the Publisher's Reading House arrives to present Dee Dee with the $200 million check she won in the sweepstakes, to which she stuffs it in her piggy bank.

Dexter then comes up with the idea of making dollar bills in his laboratory to pay off his debt. After making one dollar, two astronauts from NASA arrive to talk with Dexter about his bill. With no time left, Dexter then decides to take Dee Dee's money out of her piggy bank to use it and pay off his debt. After asking, Dee Dee decides to let Dexter use her money under one condition: He gives her most of his lab and leaves him with a small place for himself.
