Dexter's Assistant is the third segment of the second episode in season one of Dexter's Laboratory. It first aired on TNT on May 4, 1996 and then on both TBS and Cartoon Network on May 5, 1996.
In this episode, Dexter turns Dee Dee into his assistant in order to win a science fair. However, Dee Dee proves to be much more intelligent than her little brother.
Plot[]
In his Laboratory, Dexter admire all of his trophies he has won from past science fairs, minus one empty platform due to it being the one for the upcoming science fair and he has completed his newest invention: The Specto Mechanictron. During the preparation of the machine, Dexter discovered that the button needed to active it is on the bottom ground and due to the length between the sit and the bottom, Dexter is unable to reach it in time, terminating the process.
Dee Dee arrived asking Dexter that she lost her marbles (which ironically were on the floor that Dexter was on when Dee Dee surprised him) but Dexter ignored her as he had to figure out a way to active the machine while pressing the button in order for it to work. Dexter then came up with the idea of getting an Assistant to help him, and while his first choice would be Dee Dee, he instead decides to find another person. Later after obtaining a brain and having to reluctantly choose her, Dexter placed the brain in Dee Dee's Head and using static electricity, made Dee Dee into a genius.
During the preparing of the Specto Mechanictron, Dee Dee tried to warn Dexter about the mechanics but he told her to just press the button after he started active it. After a few seconds of hesitation, Dee Dee pressed the button, which caused the machine to break, as Dee Dee believed that his calculation was wrong, which caused Dexter to be upset. Later as Dexter prepared to mist chemicals, Dee Dee tried to stop him but he refuses her help, which resulted in his hair being on fire and Dee Dee putting it out and letting him use a hair growth tonic she created.
While trying to figure out which wire to cut, Dexter looked back at Dee Dee to see which one he should cut and after cutting the green wire, shocking him. Annoyed that Dee Dee seems to be smarter than him, Dexter command her to follow orders but Dee Dee refuse to listen and quit, but not before giving him a wind-up bear as his assistant. Later at the science fair, Dexter has created a mini version of the Spectro, thinking he will win, only to see that Dee Dee has won the science fair, with her entry; a mechanical merry-go-round ride, which Dexter blamed the toy bear for his loss.
