Decode of Honor is the first part of the 15th episode in season 2 of Dexter's Laboratory that first aired on October 22, 1997. In this episode, Dexter and Dee Dee both get decoder rings in order to join Action Hank and the Pony Puff Princess fan clubs respectively. They both unintentionally switch clubs as they solve their codes.

Plot[]

In the morning, Dexter and Dee Dee both race down to the kitchen to eat their breakfast. After opening their cereal boxes, they both find decoder rings inside and put them on their fingers along with two sheets of paper. Once they get their codes, Dexter and Dee Dee argue over which club will be superior as they go off trying to decode them. As Dee Dee leaves the kitchen, she tells Dexter that his club is "for big I-D-K-S-Cs." Dexter decodes what she says and feels offended.

Later, Dexter and Dee Dee are in their rooms decoding their codes. As they finish, they both look at their sheets and realize they got the wrong codes. In the hallway, Dexter and Dee Dee bump into each other and ask if they could borrow something out of their rooms. Moments later, Dexter leaves the house wearing a ballerina outfit and goes to pick flowers out of a garden. Out of nowhere, he is ambushed by Dee Dee, who pops out of the bushes while wearing an army outfit.

In the city, Dee Dee is inside a tattoo parlor getting a tattoo while Dexter heads to the Action Hank HQ and is ambushed by his men. Action Hank himself tells Dexter that he got his codes mixed up with Dee Dee's codes. Meanwhile, Dee Dee is lowered into a cauldron full of oatmeal by Pony Puff Princess. Action Hank appears, throwing a wrench into her plans. As a brawl between Action Hank's men and the Pony Puffs ensue, Dexter rescues Dee Dee and tells her what happened, with Dee Dee showing Dexter a tattoo of a gingerbread man she had on her index finger.

Trivia[]

Errors[]

  • In the tattoo parlor, one of the images is shown to have a hand with its middle finger sticking up. However, subsequent airings of this episode cropped the image out.
  • When Dexter and Action Hank's club enter the Pony Puff Place, Dexter is seen wearing his white lab coat. However, a few frames later, he is back in his ballerina outfit.
  • The cryptic word Dee-Dee tells Dexter describes Action Hank fans that he decodes is "IDKSCs."

Cultural references[]

  • One of the members of Action Hank's club was a man with silver hair, who is laughing at Dexter's appearance when he first comes in. As Action Hank is based on Mr. T, best known for his role as Bosco Baracus from The A-Team, this man is a likely reference to Hannibal Smith, played by the late George Peppard.
