Mom and Dad make Dexter take Dee Dee to the zoo (Another day without going to his secret laboratory). Dee Dee is going crazy with joy for going to the zoo.

She goes nuts over every single animal there especially the ostrich. She wants to free the ostrich and bring it home. Later, Dee Dee and the ostrich switch places and Dee Dee stays at the zoo while Dexter goes home with the ostrich mistakenly, foreshadowing her next appearance.

  • When Dee Dee said, "Lions, Tigers, and Bears." and Dexter said "Oh My." This was a reference to The Wizard of Oz.

Production Notes[]

  • Although this episode premiered in the United States on November 20, 2003, it was produced the same year according to the credits.
  • This episode was finished on February 28, 2003.[1]
  • This is Mom and Dad’s last appearance in production order.
  • Due to working on Samurai Jack, this, along with "Chicken Scratch", is the only other episode Genndy Tartakovsky was involved in after "2Geniuses 2Gether 4Ever" and "Ego Trip".

  • This wasn't going to be the series finale yet, this was supposed to be a foreshadowing of many elements to follow the three final produced episodes featuring Mandark, "Babe Sitter", "Mountain Mandark", and "2Geniuses 2Gether 4Ever".
  • Even though this is the final aired episode, "2Geniuses 2Gether 4Ever" was actually the final produced episode, similar to how What's the Big Idea?, Octi Gone, Destination Imagination and Goodbye to Bloo were the final produced/aired episodes of The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
  • Though this episode aired as the Season 4 finale of this show, it is actually the third part of 77th produced episode of Season 4, creating a continuity error in the American broadcast.

  • It is rumored that Dee Dee has been rescued from the Zoo in the next produced episode "Babe Sitter", it was possibly because of the episodes being aired out of production order.
  • It was the last time when Dexter is not in his lab yet in this episode, even though Mandark starts to take over the show and made three of the episodes about him.
