Better Off Wet is the third part of the twenty-fourth episode in season 2 of Dexter's Laboratory. It first aired on January 28, 1998.
In this episode, while Dexter and his family are swimming in the new pool, Dad tries to push Dexter in without him knowing, only for him to fail most of the time.
Plot[]
As the sun rises, Dee Dee wakes up and looks out the back window to see a pool in the Dexter family's backyard. She then goes to tell Dexter about it, to which he says he'll get in at his own pace. Dee Dee then goes to change into her swimsuit and heads outside while Dexter walks downstairs wrapped in a robe and sandals while wearing sunglasses.
Outside, Dee Dee puts on her swimming cap and gets in the pool. Dexter takes his robe, hat, and sandals off then applies sunscreen to his body. As Mom walks near the pool, Dad peeks out from behind her and looks at Dexter. Dexter then remembers all the times Dad pushed him into the pool without his knowledge, and sees Dad standing over him. Scared, Dexter runs to sit on the house's roof.
Later, Mom tells Dexter to get in. Before doing so, Dexter looks both ways to check for Dad. Just before stepping in, Dexter sees Dad walking toward him and he runs to the other side of the pool. Dee Dee's friends Lee Lee and Mee Mee show up and she invites them into the pool where they perform a synchronized water waltz. Dexter and Dad watch from the poolside, with Dexter astonished at Dad for standing next to him without his knowledge. Dad then scares Dexter and pushes him into the pool, but Dexter instead bounces off Mee Mee, Dee Dee, and Lee Lee's heads to the other side.
Knowing his plans failed, Dad then pushes Mom into the pool as she strokes her foot in. Dee Dee then charges at Dad to push him in, but he steps off to the side, making Dee Dee fall in. While Dad celebrates his brief victory, Dexter walks behind him and pushes Dad into the pool. The family shares a laugh and Dexter dives into the pool, much to the family's delight. Dexter then swims to get out of the pool, but leaves his swimming trunks behind. Dad, Mom, and Dee Dee all laugh at his mishap.
