Accent You Hate is the second segment of the thirty-first episode in season 2 of Dexter's Laboratory. It first aired on March 11, 1998.
In this episode, Dexter, Lucky, and Pierre are all targeted by a bully named Gary for their multicultural accents. He plans to beat the boys up at 3:00, and they scramble to take him down before then.
Plot[]
At Huber Elementary one morning, a trio of bullies enter the front door. One of them goes after a rich boy, the other goes after a girl with freckles, and Gary goes after Dexter for his Russian accent, which he deems "funny". As Dexter is at his locker getting his textbooks for class, Gary walks toward him and orders Dexter to repeat what he said. Once he does so, Gary grabs and slams Dexter against the lockers because of his "funny" accent.
Just then, Dexter's Irish friend Lucky runs toward him and asks for advice on what he should tell Miss Pimmerwikle about his homework, stating that his shillelagh ate his homework, to which Dexter agrees. Angered by Lucky's accent, Gary picks him up by the top of his hat and holds him upside down. Suddenly, Pierre, Dexter and Lucky's French friend, runs toward them holding a tray of croissants. Dexter blows the smell of them towards Lucky and he whistles.
The boys then talk amongst each other and Gary, after having enough, demands all three of them to shut up as he stomps on Pierre's toque blanche. Miss Pimmerwikle, mistaking what Gary's doing for a piece of art, reminds him that art isn't until third period, and he plans to "reschedule" his extracurricular activities. After she leaves, Gary orders the boys to meet him at the statue at 3:00. Dexter and his friends then use this as an opportunity to escape from school, but they are stopped by the principal, who shows them his "I Hate School Skipping Kids" shirt.
At 11:40 AM, Dexter, Lucky, and Pierre are listening to the Learn Proper English record and repeating what the woman says until Gary steps in and changes the record. The woman reminds the boys that they are "on their last few hours of their lives". Dexter, Lucky, and Pierre all start sweating profusely.
As the day goes on, Lucky opens his locker to reveal a pot of gold, and as he runs down the hall, Gary trips him and makes Lucky throw the pot of gold and its coins into the air. Pierre coats his croissants with sleeping spice and runs to give Gary some. However, Miss Pimmerwikle takes one of them and falls asleep as a result. Dexter patrols a robot suit through a grassland and steps in a puddle of water, short-circuiting the robot and making it fall to pieces. He then falls in front of Gary.
At 3:00, the kids all run out of Huber Elementary except for Dexter, Lucky, and Pierre. They head to the statue in front of the school and Gary meets them. Lucky asks what did they do to deserve their fate, and Gary punches him square in his face. Lucky falls over and starts crying, attracting the attention of many nearby students. Pierre is then punched by Gary and he cries. Dexter tries to get Gary to realize his actions, but is pushed down.
Before Gary can stomp on Dexter and his friends, three kids with various accents tell Gary to stop picking on them. Gary taunts the students and they all encircle him while clamoring. The students' many voices drive Gary crazy, prompting him to yell "SHUT UP!" while trying to cover his ears. As he tries to leave the circle of students, Gary runs into one of the fists on the statue, causing his face to swell up and give him a funny accent of his own. He then faints while the onlooking students laugh at him.
At school the next day, Dexter, Lucky, and Pierre all run into Gary and fear the worst, but suddenly, Gary has a change of heart and gives all three boys a hug.
